Sightseeing Italy I

Abgesehen von den typischen historischen Anziehungspunkten in Italien, ich spreche hier von Florenz, Siena, Neapel oder Rom, Denkmälern wie dem Kolosseum oder Forum Romanum, gibt es auch tausende anderer Sehenswürdigkeiten außerhalb dieser touristenüberlaufenen Magnetpunkte.

Ein traumhaft schöner Ort z.B. ist die Villa Lante mit einem märchenhaften Park indem man zwangsläufig das Träumen anfängt.

Sie ist in Bagnaia, einem Ortsteil von Viterbo (Latium) zu finden, ganz in der Nähe vom Bolsenasee. Das ursprüngliche Gebäude wurde 1477 als Jagdpavillion für Papst Leo X. erbaut. 1573 und 1587 wurden die beiden Casini, die den Mittelpunkt des Parkes stellen, errichtet.

Ippolito Lante veränderte seiner Zeit den Park nur geringfügig. Der Park ist an einem Hügel in Terassen angelegt und ist bestückt mit vielen Brunnen und Wasserfällen. Interessant in der Architektur des Parkes ist, die Perspektive. Von unten betrachtet scheint sich der Park zu weiten, von oben hingegen scheint er sich zu verjüngen. Dieser Effekt ergibt sich daraus, dass die beiden Pavillions im schrägen Winkel zueinander stehen. Der "steinerne Tisch" wirkt im ersten Moment recht uninteressant gegen die restlichen Spielereien mit dem Wasser, bekommt aber einen interessanten Charakter, wenn man sich überlegt wozu er diente. Auch "die Tafel des Kardinals" genannt, wurden dort Speisen und Wein gekühlt.

Besides all the tipical historical attractions in Italy, I'm talking about Florence, Siena, Naples and Rome, monuments like the Colosseum or the Roman Forum, there are thousands of other sights out of the cynosures overcrowded by tourists.

One of this gorgeous places ist Villa Lante with its magical park where you inescapable start to dream.

You can find it in Bagnaia, a district of Viterbo (Latium) near by the Bolsenalake. The primal building was built as a hunting pavilion for Pope Leo X. 1573 and 1589 were located the two Casini as the center of the park. While Ippolite Lante didn't change nearly nothing at his time. The park is laid out on a hill in terraces and full of little fountains and falls. Interesting in th architecture of the park is the perspective. So from down it seems to get wider, instead if you have a look from up it seems to get more narrow. This effect comes up because the two pavilions are built transversal to each other. The "stone table" seems quite uninteresting at the first view, especially against the other gimmickries with the water. But it gets more importance if you think about what it was used for! Also called "The Cardinal's Table" they kept fresh food and wine in it.

A parte dei tipici centri storici, sto parlando die Firenze, Siena, Napoli e Roma al pari del Colosseo e Foro Romano, ci sono mille altre bellezze da scoprire, lontane dei posti riboccati delle frotte di turisti.

Uno di questi posti meravigliosi è la "Villa Lante" con il suo parco favoloso in cui si comincia per forza a sognare.

Si trova in Bagnaia, una frazione di Viterbo (Lazio) in vicinanza sul Lago di Bolsena. L'edificio originale è stato costruito nel 1477 come padiglione di caccia per il pontefice Leo X. I due casini creano il centro e sono degli anni 1573 e 1587. Ippolite Lante cambiava soltanto piccole cose a suo tempo. Il parco è situato su una collina con diversi terrazzi ed è pieno di fontane e cascate. Particolarmente la prospettiva è molto interessante, da sotto sembra di allargarsi, da sopra invece di stringersi. Questo effetto viene fuori perchè i due padiglioni sono messi in un angolo diagonale. Il "tavolo pietroso" a prima vista non sembra tanto interessante. È chiamato anche "La Tavola del Cardinale" ed era usato per rinfrescare il cibo e vino.

Jo, was so eine echte Truckerbraut angeht.....
Dienstag morgen um 6.00 Uhr los Richtung Lecco, wo wir Molke geladen haben. Dann runter in die Toskana, in Manciano haben wir dann ausgeladen. Die Molke wird dort zur Ricottaherstellung genutzt. Also Mittwoch früh nach dem Abladen lecker frischen Ricotta gefuttert, außerdem selbst gebackenes Brot und besten Schinken. Nachmittags haben wir dann eine sehr gute Freundin getroffen und sind nach Saturnia (Termalquellen) und Scansano gedüst, wo wir exzellent gegessen haben. Danach sind wir wieder Richtung Norden, haben nachts noch an einer Raststätte gehalten um zu duschen und zu schlafen. Donnerstag abend waren wir dann wieder zu Hause. Was für ein Leben! Naja, ehrlicherweise ist ein Brummileben nicht ganz so romantisch, wir hatten ja keinen Zeitdruck wie das sonst üblich ist. Schade nur dass wir nicht mit "seinem" amerikanischen Truck fahren konnten.

Yeah, all about a real Truckerlady...
We've started tuesday morning at 6.00 with direction to Lecco where we loaded whey. Afterwards we went down to Tuscany, where we unloaded in Manciano. There they use the whey for the production of ricotta. So after unloading on early wednesday morning we had yummy fresh ricotta, homemade bread and good sorano (ham) for breakfast. In the afternoon we met a very good friend with who we went to Saturnia (with its hot springs) and Scansano where we had a dilicious dinner. In the late evening we started with direction North Italy but we stopped in the night to take a shower and to sleep. Thursday evening we have been back home. What a life! Ok, to be honest usually the life of a trucker isn't that romantic, since you have a strict timetable. Only a real pity that we couldn't use "his" american truck.

Sì, tutto di una vera camionista ...
Siamo partiti martedì matino presto alle 6.00 con direzione di Lecco dove abbiamo caricato del siero. Dopo andavamo verso Toscana, abbiamo scaricato a Manciano. Al caseificio li lo usano per la produzione di ricotta. Allora dopo lo scarico mercoledì mattina abbimao fatto colazione con ricotta ghiotta e fresca, pane fatto in casa e prosciutto di Sarano. Nel pomeriggio incontravevamo un'amica con cui facevamo un giro a Saturnia (le terme) e Scansano dove avevamo una cena deliziosa. Nella tardi sera partivamo verso nord, ma ci siamo fermati ad un Autogrill per fare una doccia e dormire. Poi siamo arrivati a casa giovedì pomeriggio. Che vita! Beh, sinceramente la vita di un camionista non è tanto romantica. Visto che normalmente c'è un orario molto stretto. Molto peccato che non potevamo andare con il "suo" Musone.
